Has anyone used this sand? I bought some and it doesn't say on the bag what kind of sand it is. It's not silica sand is it? I plan to mix some live sand in with it. The guy at the LFS said it would be okay. Doesn't silica sand encourage diatoms (their "skeleton" is made of silicon)? Thanks guys!

While some may tell you that it does, this is not just to further your paranoia, but aren't oxides used to keep glass in a liquid state? Like the glass used in the tank? Silica oxides?!?
The sand should be fine, but it will not contribute to the buffering capacity of the substrate.
