I have just got some new coral frags off a friend

I have just got some new coral frags off a friend including a small piece of live rock about 15cm in diameter and 3cm thick with some mushrooms on. Will this be alright directly on my sand, or do I need to get it up off the floor of the tank?

It will be fine mushrooms don't need lot of light

Im worried about the piece of live rock being directly on the sand. Will these cause a bad build up underneath?
