Anyone have any thoughts on which inverts are best to keep in fowlr? How many should you stock?
hermits?
snails?
crabs?
shrimp?
starfish?

you can keep them all in a fowlr setup checkout liveaquaria.com for cleanup crew packages

It entirely depends on the types of fish you will have in that tank. some enjoy about half your list as tasty snacks.

The tank will include 2 perc clowns, a yellowtail damsel, a cardinal, a yellow watch goby, and a royal gramma. Should you go with astrea or nassarius snails? Are starfish beneficial to keep?

With your fish list, you can have any of the listed inverts. It is best to get a good mixture, that way what job one doesnt do, another may. I think serpent stars are very beneficial. Get both types of snails, one works more on the sandbed while the other does glass and rock..

What do the serpent stars do, and what type of snail does the sand bed? Also, what about shrimp and crabs like sally lightfoot and emerald? Are there any special water or feeding requirements for these?

The serpent star might grow to be a little large for my tank. liveaquaria.com lists their max growth to be 1'2". Are there any good smaller ones?
