I don't think so. The small filters already on the market are well working. And save your money put it towards fish and equipment. And there are filters that lower nitrates and catches of the bad stuff I have one of those it goes through the cartridge first then a black thing that makes sure any lose debris or poop don't enter the tank again and so that its not going through the filter again and again.
