This morning the tank was full of little white things swimming around. Two eyes in front of a tiny swimming body. Any idea what they might be?

I presume the powerheads will make short work of them.

They are corapods and anthropods they are good for your system as many things eat them... Think of them as the bottom rung of your tank ecosystem and you need the first rung to go higher...

Won't filters and powerheads destroy them? How do I preserve them?

Most likely they were mysis shrimp, yes they will be removed by the filters and by your fish.
