I'm cycling a new 10 gallon tank and wanted to know what you guys are some good beginning corals? Also some recommendations on lights would be very helpful!!! Thank you

I really like zoa polyps. That's what I started with they come in all colors and are all mostly medium light medium water flow and hardy for the most part.

I have solar flare mini led light do you think that will be fine for most corals?

I'm not sure, I have a t5 high output on my 35 gallon reef tank it works well.

That lighting wont cut it, i would go with par38 or some T5s, i have 2 15000k and 2 10000k coralife T5s on my 37g mix reef and they can grow most
Low to moderate corals. I think your best bet is the par38, its cheap and works good. When you go into to T5s your paying 100-200$ for LEDs 100-500$ and for metal halides 400+. If your looking to grow acropora and other high light corals than i advise the coralife aqua light pros metal halides which i have on my 60 cube. But they are 600$ and i got them for a good price so i dont think youll be wanteing those for your first reef.

Go with the par38s as they are only 90$ as i stated earlier in my post. Do you have a plan for water? Youll need pure RODI water for wc.

Some corals you could grow with the par38s are zoas, mushrooms, polyps, most low lights. Ask around at your lfs and see what they have.

You could probably find a better price for the lights on ebay though.

I use a 54w par38 on my 10g and it works a treat! Make sure you get one with a decent output if you wish to go reef and go dimmable of you can. I will also recommend ro-di water if you are setting up a reef :)

You would reccomend it? I go by the rule that RODI water is a must for a saltwater tank! You can buy it at your lfs or get a system if youve got the money, systems go for around 200$ but its worth it. I love being able to do wc whenever i like! :)

Would this light work just obvs shorter in length?
