I've never done a reef tank before or any pure saltwater tank for that matter.
I'd like to start small and do a reef with some clown fish. Getting the salt to the right level isn't an issue for me with experience with brackish tank I know how to set it up. But how big of a tank is needed needed for two clownfish and a small bit of coral

Keep calm and drum on

I would say a 20 gallon minimum for that. However, it will be easier to keep a larger tank healthy. Smaller tanks will change faster than larger tanks. So i would suggest that you go as big as possible.

I'd go with a 40 breeder. Nice footprint for a reef and plenty for clowns (except some species that grow large)
