Why is it that all marine life is named after something else? Like turkey wing clam, clown fish, flame angel, carpet anemone...etc. It's like marine biologists coulnd't think of anything better to name the things they were discovering so they just went with whatever first came to mind that resembled what it is they were looking at.

Everything is named after something else. I.E computer (compute), mouse, keyboard, etc. They are just trying to be descriptive.
P.S. Biologists don't assign common names, but scientific names are just a description anyways.
