I have a general star fish...the red and tan star with spikes on top...really pretty. I noticed last night that there were a few orange spots on the star that had not been there before. I touched one to see if it was some sort of algae and it came off but underneath is what appears to be a sore. I don't know if this is something eating my star or what it might be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Star can sometimes carry pathogenic ciliates but it is not all that common within the "trade". More commonly they are affected by parasitic snails. Can you post some clearly defined pictures of the area?

Cheers
Steve

Will try to get pictures... The star is about 5 inches across and the orange spots are about the size of a pin head and are sporadic on the star. There are approximately 6 of the spots right now.
