My total system volume is approx 1500ltrs is there a rule of thumb for working out what size/media amount Phosphate Reactor I would require to be effective without buying industry size equipment?

That's a huge system. 400 gallon?
It depends on which gfo media you use. Some have difference recommended dosages. I use gfo pellets from Bulk Reef Supply and use about 12 tablespoons (180 ml) for my system of about 150 gal (570 ltrs).
