Is there any way besides water changes to reduce my phosphates?? I have a bad green hair algae problem. I'm mixing my own salt water with DI water and phosphate free oceanic sea salt. Just curious, I don't have any corals or anything requireing intense lighting at the moment, should I just leave my lights off until this problem is cured????

Thanks

Bill

Have you actually tested your tank water for PO4? tested teh source water for the same? If you are getting PO4 readings in your source water then it is time to change the DI resin and membrane. If the source water is okay and there still a high level of PO4 in the tank, look to your food as a contributor. You can try a PO4 sponge of some type but water changes are still your best bet. Bottom line...find out what is causing the algea and take care if it.
