i bought a small blue tang yesterday and he keeps swimming in a weird way he he goes on his side and swims really quickly ( but doesnt move anywhere ) and he seems to drift around alot. whats wrong with him?

He probably just found a good current that he likes to swim on
my clown did that alot and he still does
maybe you should get him a friend!

Tangs are wild caught fish that are VERY skittish when first placed in an aquarium. They will act psycho for a couple weeks and then will settle down.

Is he flippy his tail at another critter? He might be trying to establish territory with someone else. My Tang flips his tail at crabs and starfish. It sort of looks like hes swimming without moving.

I see blue tangs at the LFS that are constantly on their side. Not saying that I know what yours is going thru, but they seem to do that a lot, especially near/under rocks.
