Hi all,

Over the course of four months, my Emerald Crab has gone from very green to having lots of white blotches all over its shell. Is this indicative of a problem, or normal? How long do these creatures typically live, as well?

Is he running out of algae to eat? Sounds like it could be a nutrient defficiency. How old is he?

Definitely not running out of food! It seems to prefer coralline algae, and there is tons of it on the rocks. It's about 4 months old.

Hrm. I thought Emeralds prefered green algaes?

Mine's a freak. It only has 7 legs! Surprisingly, it ignores the hair and bubble algae in the tank and voraciously scrapes coralline from the rocks.
