Why won't my porcupine puffer even try other foods?

I've had the puffer 3 weeks or so and he will only eat krill. He wouldn't eat the first 3-4 days then I got him to eat some krill. I fed him krill the next few days and have been trying to feed him silversides, clams, squid but he won't even try them. He chewed on a silverside once then spit it out but he won't even try the squid and clam meat. I have been letting him get a little hungry hoping he will eat these other foods but I don't want to starve him. Any ideas what his problem is? BTW, I tried adding some garlic and that didn't help.

I had 2 different puffers over the years and mine always ate large pellets. Frozen and freeze dried krill were his favorite though.

Ours ate frozen cockels, without the shells. That is what we feed our anemone, too
