i have a 10g tank, that is over stocked with fry.

i am getting a new filter, bigger/higher capacity filter.

i was thinking about the aqua clear 30 or 50 (they are the same price on amazon) OR a mini canister filter

I am not leaning towards the AC filter but would a 50g be way to strong even if i turned it down?

i feel it might be okay because on my 29g i have a AC70 and aqueon quiet flow 30 and it does not cause much turbulence in the tank

I know the AC 30 would be good. The AC 50 does move some water but turning it down I think it would work on a 10g.

also i was thinking if the water movement was to strong i could put a sponge filter in the way of the output... this would work? correct?

also i find it hard to get the 30 if the 50 is the same price, then i can use it on another tank in the future if needed

your thinking is correct :)
You can never have too much filtration :) so just get the 50 if its the same price :)
