So I picked up a 55 gallon aquarium 2 months ago from a website that is basically a local version of craigslist for where I live for only $25. Tank itself is in good shape (no cracks, chips, or scratches) however, the top trim piece was in rough shape. The center brace was busted out, and it appeared that the heater had been to far out of the water at one time or another and had melted part of the trim. New trim piece from lfs $15. So after moving and getting settled I began to work on the tank this week. Got it derimmed, ready to put new rim on....when I noticed something. The tag from the factory said it as built in 95....I was only five then. So now I am worried about the silicone seals. They appear to be in good shape, but being that old and for fear of 55 gallons of water on the floor and a pissed off wife I need your help. Should I just reseal the tank, put th rim on and sell it as a terrarium and try to get my money back and then buy a new tank?

Here are some pics (sorry if they suck taken from my phone)
First is derimmed, second with new rim, next are silicone shots.

The silicone still looks to be in fairly good shape and should be fine. My buddy has a tank that I gave him that was purchased new in 1985 and hasn't had to reseal it yet if well maintained the seals will last. If you are worried just reseal it, while it is a pain it's not very hard to do.
