Base Rock in Freshwater Tank?

Hi

I bought base rock for my saltwater aquarium........However my daughter has a freshwater aquarium and loves my rock. She wants to put a piece or two in her tank.

Can you use base rock for freshwater tanks?

The base rock has NOT been rinsed yet nor has it been put in my tank. I have it on my table for "designing" my tank. So it is still dry and right from the dealer.

A lot of african keepers use base rock as decor. It'll most likely buffer the pH, so keep that in mind.

Ad stated above, I use this rock with my tanganyikan shell Dwellers. This brings my pH up to about 8.1, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks everyone, don't think I'll give her any. She's not into maintenance much, so I don't want to jeopardize her tank.

I don't know what lace rock is. I bought base rock from reefcleaners. That's the rock I'm talking about.

Lace rock is rock that raises the pH, and maybe the hardness of the water (I'm not sure about the last part, but it definitely raises pH
