AES are the best and they'll strip algae off plants like nobody's business.

What do you want to clean? Shrimp and ottos will take care of algae, corys will eat left over food.

AES might do okay in their own tank. I never had success but only had one opportunity so not the best marker !
I read somewhere about shrimp where the female carries the eggs towards sea (saltwater) and drop's them when salinity is right. They supposedly drify out to sea a bit before hatching, then the young shrimp gradually return to freshwater as they mature. Might be a load of rubbish, but it beat me anyway ! In a tank with other fish, I'd say the little green eggs would be on the menu so to speak, if not sucked up by the filter !!

That is correct Amano shrimp do not reproduce in fresh water.
