Cleaning a tank...

I just got a 55G tank and it had been used a while ago. Been in storage for about a year. I bought it from a friend. Just wondering what do I use to clean the glass inside? There's areas where it looks like dried algae, and won't come off when rubbing firmly with my finger. I can't soak with bleach, as it's getting cold outside and have the outside faucets turned off and drained. It doesn't need to be perfect, would just like to clean it a little more. Thanks...

i'll add, vinegar and then a razor blade, soften it with the vinegar and get a long straight blade to scrap it clean.
