Cleaning an empty tank

Hey guys,

My coworker had a question today about cleaning her old tank. She's giving it to her sister to do a saltwater setup. This used to be a freshwater, and she says that there's buildup on the sides. What should she do to clean it before she gives it to her sister?

Thanks,

Matt

If you are trying to remove hard water residue. The easiest and safest way is to use household vinegar and water.

Yep Vinegar and water.

If the tank is Acrylic be VERY carefull not to scracth it. It sounds like it is glass though!

If it's glass, not acrylic, using a razor blade on some of the more stubborn deposits will help. I use a Stanley utility blade (just the blade, not the utility knife itself) after softening with the vinegar. If you do this, be careful!
