Clown loach life

I don't know for sure how long they live, but I have seen pics of some that were 15 or 16 inches long. That had to take a while. Get him a buddy, thay tend to stay together. Have you seen yours sleep on his side yet?
 
I don't think a clown loach will live for nearly that long in captivity. I believe under good conditions 15-20 years is more realistic.

Now, if you bought a very very young clown loach (maybe 1.5" long) you have maybe 2-3 months before it is too big for a 10 gallon tank. You should be able to keep it in a 30 gallon tank for atleast a year or maybe two but ultimately you should have a 50 gallon tank for a clown loach and they are happiest when in groups of 3 or more.

I do know that they are regarded as a delicacy in certain parts of the world.
I suppose you would need a decent size fry pan. Jeff
