Hey I just got a piece of dirftwood at petco and I was curious to know if it's already been threated?

I let mine sit in a bucket of hot water overnight to try and get the tanning or stain out then i usually give it a good rinse with boling water to sterilize it.

I would do something like that or give it a rinse just for peace of mind.

I have rinsed mine with boling water in the past and also soaked it for several days in a bucket to leech out the tannins. But some folks like that black water look. I would just make sure it's clean and well soaked so that it sinks before putting it in.

as long as it is from he aquarium section, and you give it a good rince then you should be ok. i stil boil mine though

usually driftwood sits in planted tanks at my local petco. so i think they are ok.

....

cool, i went ahead and ran some hot water over it our hot water gets really hot!lol. the tank is set up again, did some changes, and added some BN pelcos. the treated question was typed by a friend i told her to change it but she fig it was cool, lol. yes the bioling and soaking is what i was talking about. sank like a rock too! cool peice i found it in the small bin there at petco, and then found out it was a medium(dam!$5 more!). but it has been there for a bit now. and i finally went and got all the pennys changed at HEB. Ill get some pics up in a bit.

edit:
alright so i got some pics, and i decided to build a light cabinet for the new 15g, and a cabinet area for food and such. so i went out and bought a light bar, and set up everything to night, i dont have a good screw driver so the rest will wait for tonight. but here ya go, 2xt12
