Turning the lights off when you run the dryer will help. When using an extension cord, use a heavy one. The little short ones that look like the cord on a toaster are ok for about 5 feet if only one thing is plugged in but if you want to go 50 feet or more and plug multiple things in you need one that has much larger wire. If the individual breakers or fuses that run receptacles in the house are 15 amp use a cord with #14 guage wire. If they are 20 amp use one with #12 guage wire. The smaller the number the bigger the wire size. Home Depot or any store that caters to construction trades will carry them. Ask the guy in the electrical department and tell him what amparage rating you want and he will help you pick out the correct one.

Taking an empty 2-liter bottle, filling it with the tank water, and dumping it back in from a height can slightly help to aerate your tank, depending on the size.
