I've got a couple penguin biowheels and about a month ago I replaced my carbon inserts with purigen and sponges. I've been reading quite a bit about people who have completely taken out all chemical filtration. My question is, how can I go about this and will it signifigantly affect the water and fish?

I don't use any carbon, zeolite, purgien, in any of my filters and haven't in a long time.

I use Eheim Ehfimech, Eheim coarse/ fine sponges, Eheim subtrate Pro in my filters. Carbon and the others just masks problems in my opinion.

So would I be able to grab some ceramic rounds, sponges and pop them into my existing hob's? Is sponge/rounds/sponge a good order?
