Whats everyone's experience with firehead tetra(hemigrammus bleheri).
The book I'm reading say they do best if in mature tank with soft water.
So maybe not a good choice right after I cycle?

Or would the rummynose tetra a better choice?

Hemigramus bleheri is a species of rummynose tetra. Yes they would be best for a tank a few months after cycling.
