They are best with one or odd numbers I think, and are brackish. They are brackish and grow to about six inches. Do your own research and decide if you are ready for this high maintenance fish.

You need a tank of course- 30 gallons or larger would be best
Salt mix
hydrometer or refractometer
filter
substrate
heater
thermometer
tank needs cycled of course
some snails to munch on
I'm sure I missed something though
 
okay I have a 15 gallon freshwater tank ready to go,would it be to small and are they saltwater
 
The puffers are brackish wich means that they can not live in a salt water set up. They need fresh water that has a small concentration of salt in it. Think of it as amixture of salt water and fresh water.
