So what's the best way to keep ammonia down? We have a fluval c4 70 gal and an aqua clear 50 gallon on our 75 gal tank. We've been testing the water, keeping up on pwc's and can't seem to get the ammonia levels down.

Do water changes. The percentage of the water change will reduce the ammonia level by that much (ie a 50% change would take 4ppm to 2ppm). Are you doing a fish in cycle?

It's been up for about 4 weeks. And fish in. It was our first tank so we've been slowly learning. Our second tank we did fish less and it seems to be doing better than our tropical

Have you pulled some media from the cycled tank to give this one a jump start? Other than that, daily testing and water changes any time the ammonia gets above .5ppm is what you're going to have to do until it finishes cycling.

Yeah were keeping an eye on. Testing every day. The fish seem ok, but I don't want to be blindsided one day with carnage. And I have 1 dalmation molly fry that made it through the birth and he's still kicking so fingers crossed we get this all under control
