How long to leave vegies in tank...

I've placed 1/4 of a cucumber in each of my tanks to give the fish something besides flakes and wafers to eat. I'm just wondering how long I should leave them in there. I'm guessing I should take them out after 24-48 hours.

The Red Zebras and Yellow Labs are loving it. I'm hoping my BN plecos will eat some tonight. I also put a small piece of banana in for the BNs.

I've kind of been wondering this myself. I have 2 BN Plecos and I place a slice of Zuchinni and after 24 hours it is mostly eaten so I remove it. Never had any water quality problems doing this.
