As you may know, I'm stopping my BGA filled 12 gallon and replacing it with a nice new to me 20 gallon. I want to use the same filters, but don't want to cycle. How can I prevent the BGA from being transferred over? Should I just run maracyn through the tank before I put the fish in? Or even after I put the fish in, just to make sure? I've taken plants out of the tank and put them in a mini tank with no signs of algae whatsoever.

Could I just rinse the plants off REALLY well, then hope that they grow so well (since I now have the ENTIRE seachem plants line of products) that the BGA won't take hold?

I'm only transferring the plants and a couple rocks. The rocks will be easy, I'll just either dry them, or pour some boiling water over them/dip them in a H2O2 solution. As for the plants, I'm not so sure. There's no way I'll be able to get all of the BGA out of the roots of the java ferns...
