Kuhli Loach Behaviour

Im new to Kuhlis and mine seem to lay on their side appearing to me to be dead. Only to wriggle about if disturbed. Is this normal behavour? I keep panicing and im a bit confused by it.

I have a Kahului, he lies where ever he can in whatever position needed to hide. He rarely comes out or moves, only for food or if he is disturbed, you may find him trying to bury himself in your gravel too, mine did once for a few days, I thought he had died and been eaten lol
