I am trying to sex my bristle nose because I am considering putting them in the same tank. I think they are both females because they don't have many bristles.

Not sure if you can tell from the photos or not. They like to hide and are hard to shoot.

definitely a male. it is a young maturing male. you can tell because female bn plecos that grow bristles (rarely) never grow upwards towards the eyes/nose

Both of these are a year old, so are they still maturing?

Males are larger than females and have bristles running up his snout/nose and around his lip.

Female's sometimes grow short, thin barbels on their noses and in some cases they grow no bristle's at all which is perfectly normal

here is photo of male, at a year old you should know what they are...I can not tell by the photo angle

Females can have a few bristles but they are not very visable, defiantly a male by the pictures provided.
