There are a number of genera of killifish that are 'annuals'. Some of the most spectacular are members of the African genus Nothobranchius which, unfortunately, are rarely available in pet shops. A great link to give you a look at these aquatic gems is http://www.killi.co.uk/AfricanAnnuals.php

South American annual killis include a vast number of genera. Cynolebias, Simpsonichthys, Austrofundulus, Rachovia, Cynopoecilus, and Pterolebias are examples. Again...these fish rarely show up at the lfs.

There are also the 'semi-annuals' which include such genera as Aphyosemion (some), Epiplatys, and Procatopus.

A good general article on killifish can be found at http://tropical-fish.net/killifish.htm .
