I'd like to get a neon blue or powder blue dwarf gourami and a female companion gourami. I don't intend to breed them, but I do want them to be buddies. Do you think it matters if the female is of the normal, non-special-color type?

I'm asking because it seems to be pretty easy to find a female dwarf gourami, but not a female *powder blue* dwarf gourami.

Thanks!

They are all same species so it would not matter at all. I have never seen a female DG in person, stores just do not carry them. It is best to keep just one male in a smaller sized tank.

Thanks for the info! I'm lucky enough that my LFS has 3 different color varieties of dwarf gourami, and a bunch of females in the plain-ol-dwarf-gourami tank.

I have 2 male dwarf gouramis in my 37g. 1 neon blue and one flame. They seem to get along with each other. It's the larger gold gourami that gives them fits.
