I cut up some fresh zucchini into tiny pieces, but the little feeders(about 1 1/2") could not eat it. They would keep spitting it out like it never got soft enough. Do I cook or boil it first, or what am I doing wrong?

Yeah, blanch it first. To do this, put it in the microwave or on the stove and bring it to a boil, then remove it from the heat. You want it to be softened enough for the fish to be able to eat it but not so soft that it is moosh or falls apart in the water. Think fresh peach soft.

And cut it into thin slices ... Cut the slice in half so you expose the center ... Goldfish won't be able to get at the center if you have a rind around the entire slice. Or you can just skin the zucchini & chop it up into little pieces after blanching.
