I have sand in my 25 and 75 gal and was wondering if anyone with sand releases gas from the sand and how often

Hi it shouldn't release gasses,unless its getting 'stagnant' and allowing the bacteria to turn anaerobic{the sand will turn black if this is the case in the affected area}

I have white silica and it has a discoloration in my 75 gal fom algea i think
my 25 is holding its color

here are pics of both tanks

Hi from the photo's its all looking good(y) I would just 'stir' the sand gently with your hand or syphon tube just to release any gas. If you have corydoras then they will probably do this for you naturally:)

there are 8 corydora with more on the way and the other fish mostly swordtails and mollys take the sand in their mouth and spit it.
2 Black Mollies
1 Marble Molly
1 Silver molly
10 Swordtails
4 Albino Corydora Cats
4 Pepper Corydora Cats
2 Razbora
6 Neon Tetras
3 Guppies
3 Micky Mouse Platties
4 Zebra Danios
1 Plecostomus

in my 75 gal.
Is the algea that darkened the sand from the pic on the left normal?

I've got trumpet snails in my sand tanks. They burrow down and therefore stir the sand.
