Hello. I want to scape an Amazon style tank, using only sand as substrate. My plan is to grow only epiphytes, and use roots and cobbles/pebbles as hardscape.
I currently have a low tech dirted tank with volcanic rock and driftwood as hardscape. Growing mainly stem plants.
- How different is it going to be maintainance wise?
- Will my bacteria have enough places to grow on compared to my current setup?
- Do I need to use pouros substrate beneath the sand layer?
The photo is my inspiration for the aquascape I'm planning.
