Sea shells in FW tank?

I'm interested in putting some big sea shells in a my tropical fishtank.

I'm wondering if this is viable and the "do's and don'ts" so to speak :)

What's your pH? If it's low, shells can raise them (if there are several)... otherwise, it's not a big deal at all.

Ph is 7.4, slightly alkaline.

I'm thinking a few big ones and a few smaller ones, I'll be soaking them for a day in hot water to leech any salts out first :)
