Sea shells in FW tank?

I'm interested in putting some big sea shells in a my tropical fishtank.

I'm wondering if this is viable and the "do's and don'ts" so to speak

What's your pH? If it's low, shells can raise them (if there are several)... otherwise, it's not a big deal at all.

Ph is 7.4, slightly alkaline.

I'm thinking a few big ones and a few smaller ones, I'll be soaking them for a day in hot water to leech any salts out first
