Well, my new tank is really keeping me on my toes.

It's a 23 gallon with stock led lights built into the hood. I wouldn't have expected them to be more than low light and I have low light plants in the tank.

The tank is nearing fully stocked.

The water parameters are good and I change about 30% of the water a week.

I've got corries and a few shrimp and a snail as the current clean up crew.

I've got tons of green and brown algae on the glass and on the plants. I get in there and clean it with a sponge and it comes right back.

I know less light and more water changes should help, but is there anything else I can/should be doing.

Is this a symptom of being a new-ish tank that will settle down?

some of the plants aren't thriving but I think that's my fault for having had them out of water for too long when I was chasing a bully fish.

Any advice is appreciated!

Do you have plants?

Yes, there are about 10-12 plants in the tank. Mostly a few kinds of anubias.

I was wondering if getting more, faster growing, plants would help use up some nutrients.

How many hours are the lights on per day? You can put it on a timer and run it for 6-8 hours or less.
