What Cory should I get

Which is more hardy peppered or bronze and by Hardy I mean which can tolerate less than ideal water conditions

Whichever you find the best looking! Cory cats are best in groups of 4 or more, but 3 is ok too.

Again, personal preference. I have 4 habrosus and 8 pygmaeus in my 16b, very active and fun to watch. These guys were happy simply because I just added new plants to the tank!

Of all the corys I have had the peppered appeared to be the hardiest. I even have one baby bred in my community tank.
The least hardy in my opinion are pandas.

I have 5 peppered and they are great, but the s.petricola cat fish are special and will mix ok with them..........

+1 on the pandas, very cute but rather delicate.
