I bought 5 zebra botia loaches from the local pet store and the manager threw in an extra fish that he said was not a zebra. It was sold as a zebra botia loach by his distributor, but it is not. For a little fish, he is super aggressive at feeding time.

I was hoping someone could identify the type for me.

Thanks.

I'd say Cobitis Taenia (spined loach).

Typically a cooler water fish, preferring temps in the high 60s/low 70s.
IIRC they can get to around 10cm long.

An odd find in a pet store.

ETA: see if he colours up any once he's settled. He may in fact be a spotted weather loach (Cobitis Elongata).

Thanks! I was wondering if it was even a loach. The front seams different somehow.
