I have a 60 gallon tank and on some of the drift wood it appears i have a white furry algae.. is this just something that will go away as my tank stablizes out?? its only 2 weeks old ....it looks really ugly and i dont wanna use chemicals

Have you tried brushing it off?

It should go away on it's own, and is harmless. Some people are succesful with just brushing it off and never having it come back.

sounds like harmless fungus... that's normal for driftwood and it will eventually go away. Did you boil the driftwood first and scrub it really good? THere were probably just some fungal spores leftover before you put it in.

It will go away on its own. I had the same thing and freaked out. Some fish will eat it and think its a tasty snack. It can be caused by oversteralizing the driftwood. At least thats what I was told when I had it.
