Awe so sweet!

I love elephant nose snails. I hope I can get one sometime. I don't think they'll breed with my Apple.

I've got some plants for them to hide in. Any suggestions for fash fish that can make it in a small (5 gallon) tank? Thanks for being so quick & helpful!

Are your shrimp salt or fresh water?

I had some milk snails for a while but my hubbie wanted to eat them. So I released them where I found them. ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1469747259.852391.jpg

All these snails are adorable. I love all the pics.

Gary Gnu looks like he needs a buddy in there.
Sounds like your hubby will eat anything TMaier.
Snails just don't look appetizing at all to me!
Great looking snails Shellyx! Can't say I've seen Cana or lava snails lately. I'll keep an eye out for them in the LFSs. Do they like to wander out of open top tanks?

He has fish buddies but that's it. No snail buddies.

The cana would definitely wander, but the lava snail shouldn't, mine haven't anyway :)

I haven't read a lot about Apple snails? I assumed it was just another name for mystery snails. What are some of the big differences? Aside from the longer lifespan?

Well for one they grow much larger. Different colors. They also can change their sex to mate with another apple snail. Not only do they live longer, but they live significantly longer in proper conditions than mystery snails. Mystery snails live max around 2-3 years. Apple snails can live beyond 10 years if kept properly.

To keep them is very easy. I think they seem to adapt to just about any type of water conditions. I have high alkalinity, hardness and pH for my guppies in fresh water. I don't know anything about them being in salt water. I feed my snail half an algae wafers every day and that seems to satisfy him. Give them plenty of room to explore and keep them well fed, they'll thrive. :)

Impressive mustache.

Wow, I'll second that comment. Very impressive.

What is the magic to keeping these cuties??

Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk

They love hard water and to munch on mineral (calcium) rich foods, and stable tank parameters. Will eat on a cuttlebone (no additives) like for birds.

NO copper meds or using copper meds in tanks you want to have them in.

Acclimate gradually like you might do for a fish.

Awesome pets!!!
