For algae and cleanup I would get Nerite snails instead. They come in beautiful varieties and cannot hatch eggs in freshwater so u don't have to worry about population.

However I have heard the brittlenose is the only one compatible with goldfish.

Be aware that adding another fish adds and must be considered with your overall bioload and stocking levels.

Awww. I love goldfish. Love not having to worry about heater and they have awesome personalities. I also like how big they get
