Had my red ear for about a year. His name is Tim haha? ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1422626784.932293.jpg
He's a lot bigger than this, probably about 8 inches long now! We're currently in the process of adding stuff to his 75 gallon to make it homey :)
Anyone else have turtles? ☺️

They guy I got him from says he is 3 years old. His shell is about 6 inches? Maybe an inch or so bigger.

29 gallon~ 5 giant danio, pleco, chinese algae eater
35 gallon~ red ear slider, soon to add guppys and shrimps

So I took him out. He's in a box with the lamp hanging in one side. How long should I keep him out ?

His basking spot is in the mail. Won't here here til the 9th, so I figured I'll just take him out for how ever long once a night once my kid goes to sleep. But I'm not sure how long.

I've never taken mine out for more than an hour, I'm not sure of the exact length limit though. If he's in the water too long, they start shedding a lot, that's another reason for the basking spot. Just keep the water extra clear and do what your doing :)

Left him out for an hour. He seemed happy. Can't wait to get his basking thing. **** was almost 50$!

Really? That's Insane! We had the small basking spot from when we purchased the tank and the just returned it for a larger one (sneaky I know) so we only paid like $15 for it

This is Amelia. :) The first picture is from the day I got her and the other two are of her now. She's about six years old now. Amelia is a RES but her red stripes are a little on the orange side because she's from Kentucky. I had always wanted a turtle when I was little. I was visiting relatives in Kentucky when I was in high school and we went to this huge festival. This guy was selling turtles. Somehow I convinced my mom to let me get one. Six years later she's still happy and healthy but much much bigger.
