brown algae?

i put 20ibs of lr in my 46gal tank now i am getting brown algae all on the substrate,i have 3 nassersious snails,don't seem to be doing the job and have water turnover x10,for the past few days i turn over the substrate myself,any help is appreciated

If your tank is new it's diatoms. The snails won't really help. It has to run its course then it will go away. You can keep the glass clean and maybe vacuum the substrate to help make it look better, but it will just go away on its own as the better algae starts to develop.
 
That description is definately diatoms. They are caused by silicates and like electrikat said it is natural and will burn off on its own. I added some hermits and snails after my cycle and they took care of it pretty quick. I have an impatient wife who thought they looked bad.
