gunk on PH intake?

Forgive the dumb question. I just started my cycle 3 days ago, and the water has cleared, but the PH's (maxijet) have gunk stuck to the strainers now... When I remove the strainers the gunk mostly floats off back into the tank, so I can't just take them out and rinse them..

What can I do to clean them off?

is it bad for the PH's to be blocked off (i'd guess yes)

you can probably just grab it with your hand and pull it off quickly. You may need to do this often but its better than leaving them dirty.

put a plastic ziploc bag over the strainer and then remove it :?
