Mushroom spreading

I have two very large mushrooms that I would like to have spread. They are both the size of a half dollar. What is the best way to get to spread?

Take them out put them in a bowl with tank water, and cut in in quarters right down the middle through the mouth of the mushroom and then rubber band the pieces to a piece of liverock . It will grow into a full mushroom again in no time
