i have a baby angelfish who has an anal fin that looks more like a swordfish tail.


not a great picture, had to blow it up a bit to see. they are pretty small.



i think this is a birth defect

ill keep watching him, i think he is healthy, just malformed. there are 15, just recently started to look like angelfish, but this one's fin never spreads out

Sadly, it's a birth defect. It does not get better. I had 2 pairs of Angels in my hatchery that threw this deformity. :( Those fish were pulled from my breeding stock. Hopefully, for the sake of trying to get better genetics back into the fish we see in stores, you won't breed this fish or any others showing the defect. (y)
