Ned help with noisy bulkhead overflow

Well I got the tank setup today and the overflow is loud! It will be really quite for a few seconds then make a loud gurggle sound. Anyways this tank is in my room and I don think I can handle it.

I dont understand the duro stand pipe thing. Can somoen tell me how that works? I really want to do this setup but if I can control the gurggle its not going to work. I have a 90* fitting right off the bulkhead.

OK well I have somewhat contained it right now. I reduced the flow of the return and that worked well. Then I had a problem with the waterfall sounds. I drilled some holes on the pipe above the water line and it cured all the problem. Ill get pics up tonight hopefully
