newbie question

I'm having a lil trouble getting my salinity correct. I'm using instant ocean mix. Does anyone have a rough estimate that they use? I know water is different everywhere but anything would help. Thanks. I have a 20 gallon tank.

Use 1/2 a cup for every gallon. Get a hydrometer. If its to high as freshwater, if its to low add salt

Another thing to keep in mind is the time it takes the salt mix to dissolve. Let the mix dissolve for at least a day. Most folks on here use a rubbermaid tub to mix water. Place a powerhead in there to mix it up. Check the salinity after a day.
